Movement is one of the best ways to release any pent up energy that is keeping your emotions and or trauma locked in your body.
Dancing, stretching, swaying, moving the hips, free flow movement, African dancing dancing with your beloved partner are all methods that supports the release of negative energy and or energy that is charged up in your body and needs a place to go.
Good day! I Aisha Peters CEO for DAMALI-BEAUTIFULVISION CIC. I am here to share my journey in healing through navigating the bereavement of my daughter Damali Peters.
Dance has always been a very powerful ally of mine. To be honest Dance and I became friends from within my Mother's womb. This my Mother affirmed explicitly to me.
I have always been moved by movement and the many beautiful methods of dance.
Being trained in movement such as, African, Zouk and Hip-Hop has always been something I can pull out of the bag to have a sense of release so that I can feel my soul from within. Little did I know just how powerful these tools would be during my healing journey.
For some time in my home there was no longer any sonic melodies that moved me.
I stopped listening to music let alone playing it in my household.
Damali loved listening to music and it reminded me of her. How she would sing along to songs so effortlessly.
For years I could no longer bear to listen to or play music because it would bring tears to my face.
One day I put on a song that took me back to my childhood where I would roam my Father and Mother's living room and danced until sweat dripped from my body. I moved and grooved alone in my living room for hours and hours until I could feel my solar plexus again.
My stomach which is where we tend to carry our emotions besides the heart chakra finally feeling a lot more lighter energetically in comparison to how I felt before I had my own personal dance marathon.
Carrying emotions and trauma within the body is a real thing. Being aware of the need to move let alone the want is a good thing.
Through the grief MOVE, through the pain MOVE, through the tears MOVE!
If you want to pay for a class? Do it! Do not hesitate to nurture you and the creativity of movement within you. Ok! Fair enough you may not be the best dancer. But who cares?!
The most important thing is that you care and you act upon it for your personal development. ''Healing Through Creative Self-development'' is key.
